Hello All,

Despite it being a New Year it was a familiarwinner of the first PGA event of 2016 seeingAmerican Jordan Speith breaking more records andfinishing an astonishing 30 under-par, cementinghis place as the World Number 1 ahead of RoryMcllroy.

This is certainly going to be a great rivalry towatch and see these two challenging each otherall the way to be the best in the world - whowill come out on top this week in Abu Dhabi?

Away from the Sunshine of the PGA and EuropeanTour our Greenkeeping Team here have been facingtheir own challenges as Deputy Head GreenkeperSteve explains in his recent blog.

Greenkeepers news

Happy new year to everyone!!!

The first couple of weeks of 2016 has seen usbattle everyday with crow damage and also severewet areas in some parts of the course. The crowshave been very active looking for chafer grubsand at the same time causing a lot of work forus. They don't seem to be scared by scare crows, golfers or even gun shots and thechemical/insecticide we normally use to minimisechafer grubs has currently been taken off themarket and is no longer for sale. Imidaclopridis the active ingredient in merit turf which wehave used in the past.

We are hoping that the cold weather which isforecast over the next few weeks shouldhopefully slow their activity down abit. All thesurrounds and greens will be heavily over seededand top dressed early spring and we're confidentall the damaged areas will come back better thanever.

Please see below photos of damage and the grubsthey are searching for.
