Finally!
Hi All,
I hope you have had a great week on and off the course! After months of build up and hype, golf's biggest event the 41st Ryder Cup, will be coming to us live this week from the magnificent Hazeltine National in Minnesota, USA. Millions of sport fanatics across the world will tune in to watch the world's greatest match-play event unfold at Hazeltine for the first time in the Ryder Cup history.
Having previously hosted nine major tournaments (including the 2002 & 2009 PGA Championship), this year's layout isn't going to be a pushover for either team and is famed for its narrow fairways and small greens. As you will all be aware, Darren Clarke will be the European Captain and will hopefully follow in the footsteps of other past successful captains such as Paul McGinley, Jose Maria Olazabal, Colin Montgomerie, and the late great Seve Ballesteros. Just 12 players are lucky enough to gain a spot on each Ryder Cup team through consistent tournament performances throughout each year and the captain's 'wild-card' picks. Here is the final list of players from Team Europe and Team USA:
There is no doubt that over the weekend we will be treated to an emphatic display of golf from the world's best and with Rory McIlory in great form after wrapping up the FedEx Cup series on the PGA Tour.
He managed this by winning both the Deutsche Bank Championship and end of season TOUR Championship by defeating the US Team's final Captain's pick, Ryan Moore in a truly brilliant four hole playoff on Sunday evening. Now fingers crossed he can inspire the European Team to victory.
