Finally itis the week you have all been waiting for, it’s the146th Open Championship returning to Royal Birkdale.Those going to Birkdale this week I hope you have agreat time but be prepared for the weather elements! Iremember attending in 2008 in what had to be some ofthe trickiest weather conditions I can rememberwitnessing!

Justin Rose returns to sceneof 1998 drama where he pitched into the hole at the18th at Royal Birkdale 10 years ago to finish fourthas a 17-year-old amateur. To see this again clickhere.

SummerHolidays Are Here!

The summerholidays are almost upon us and what betterway to keep the kids active than at our playdays!

Every Wednesdayduring the holidays, we will be hosting aplay day for children aged 6 – 17yrs whichwill include games, golf practice andplaying in a competition.

Prices start at£20 (KGC Junior membersspecial price £10).

Limitedavailability, under 12’s must be accompaniedby an adult (some unaccompanied spacesavailable at an extra cost of £5per session, per child).

This week there has been thegent’s weekend and midweek stablefords taking placewith great numbers taking part.

At the weekend 88 playersteed it up seeing some very good scoring. The overallwinner of the Gents Weekend Stableford was AlbertoBarraclough with 42 points, a great result!

The winners by divisionwere:

Div 1: 1st Paul Knight 41(Overall 3rd), 2nd Declan Kip 41 and 3rd Tom O’Donovan40
Div 2: 1st Dave Carter 41, 2nd Chris McKechnie 40, 3rdStan Green 38.
Div 3: 1st Alberto Barraclough 42 (Overall 1st), 2ndFrank Partlett 42 (Overall 2nd) and 3rd Gerard Pearce38.

On Wednesday 55 playersparticipated with Tom Stevens finishing the winnerwith a fantastic 41 points!

LadiesStableford

At the Weekend it was theLadies Stableford, the winner with 38 Points was JanKavanagh, in 2nd place Tracey Russell 36 Points and in3rd Celia Harker 33 Points.

In the Midweek Stableford onTuesday this saw 19 players teeing it up with overallwinner being Elain Hunt 39 Points.

1st Elaine Hunt 39 Points,2nd Rita Murray 37 Points, 3rd Jackie Thompson 36Points.

SeniorsJuly Stableford

On Thursday 6 July a totalof 65 seniors took part in the monthly Stableford. Ina low scoring day the best nett result was from MikeLisseter who carded 43 points whilst Reg Mitchellcarded the best gross score of 77. Full Results were:

Seniormatch

On Thursday 13July the Seniors played Witney Lakes away.In a match which could gone any way (threeresults were possible when games reached the18th tee – Home and Away win and tie)

Kirtlingtongained a very credible tie in the match 3-3. Dave M/Ian G won comprehensive 7 and 6,Geoff S/Clarrie won a pulsating match 2 and1 and Mike L/Stuart W won by one hole bywinning the last. Gerry S/Peter J also cameto the last even but lost by one hole.
