I hope you've all had a great week on and off the golf course and welcome to another edition of the KGC Weekly Newsletter bringing you up to date with all the latest news from the club.

The month ahead

Titleist Ball Fitting Event – Saturday 23rd September

For the first time we have Titleist the #1 ball in golf here at Kirtlington golf club carrying out a ball fitting session on Saturday 23rd September from 10am – 2pm!

There are 2 separate stations that we will use on the day:

From 10am to 12pm - Performance Ball Fit using Pro V1s and Trackman we will hit wedges, 7 irons and drivers to then make a ball recommendation. This is appointment only and takes 15 minutes per fit.

So please book your appointment at reception, in the pro shop or click here.

From 12pm to 2pm - Preference Ball Fit using all 6 models, we will discuss performance benefits of each of the balls whilst hitting a variety of short game shots. There is no need to make appointments for this, the more the merrier!

Join us for our 22nd Anniversary Gathering

We're holding our 22nd Anniversary Gathering which will be an 18 hole stableford competition with max handicap 28 men's; 36 ladies; 28 junior boys; and 36 junior girls.

There will be a buffet and social gathering starting at 5.30 running through to 7pm when the prize giving will take place.

Founder Members Trophy

This event is open to all members with book your own tee times up until 1:00pm.

Entrance fee: £3.00 competition.

Buffet: £8.00 (for buffet sign-up and to pay at Reception).

Past Members Trophy

Open to all past members (please find entry forms at reception) with book your own tee times from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.

Entrance Fee: £25.00 which includes golf & buffet.

Aggregate Pairs Stableford Open

Then on Sunday 24th we have the Aggregate Pairs Stableford Open added to the calendar with book your own tee times in the Pro Shop at £5 per person for members with fantastic voucher prizes to be won!

Almerimar 666 Stableford Mixed Team Competition

In the glorious sunshine on Bank Holiday Monday it was the Almerimar 666 Stableford Mixed Team Competition. Eleven teams of 3 players took part on day with the winning team being decided on countback! In 1st Place scoring 80 Points was the team of Jude Carr, Stuart Weston & Andy Enser, just edging out Linda Breaker, Andy Chick & Roy Brown in 2nd place.

The Foursomes Cup

The Foursomes Cup on Sunday saw 17 teams participate and the winning pair, with an outstanding nett 65.0, was Neil Butler & Tom Stevens while in 2nd place was David Carter & David Baskerville with nett 67.5 and in 3rd place with a nett 68.0 was Jimmy Summers & Joel Thornett.

Mixed Summer Pairs Knockout Final Result

The Mixed Summer Pairs Knockout on Sunday was won by Paul Slade & Julie Hodges defeating Mark Ellis & Val Eadle 4&3.

Central Sevens Match Results

On Saturday in Division 6 the Blue Team was away to Bicester Golf Club losing 5 ½ to 1 ½. Jimmy Summers won his match 3& 2 and Pip Eadle halved his match all square.

In Division 3 the Green Team was away at Hinksey Heights winning this match 4-3. Winning players were Nolan Aselford, Duncan Cooper, Paul Slade & Tom Stevens.

This Saturday it is the top of the table clash at home between Kirtlington and The Oxfordshire in the Foursomes Scratch League!

Seniors news

Seniors Open

On Wednesday 4th October we're hosting our Seniors Open an 18 hole better-ball stableford, 90% handicap (max handicap 28) for those 55 years and over. Tee times are from 10am with the entrance fee £60 per pair for visitors and just £40 per pair (£20 per person) for members. There will be visitors and members prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd plus nearest pin & longest drive pirzes. Entry includes coffee and bacon roll on arrival, a 2 course sit down meal after golf followed by the prize giving.

August roll-up

The August roll-up took the form of a Texas Scramble and was won with an impressive Nett 57.9.

Seniors Team Report

On Thursday 24th August the Senior Team’s fine run of form continued when they halved an away match with Waterstock 3 -3. All the games nearly went the distance with 3 games being decided on the last hole. Larry and new member Chris Mackenzie lost the captains match by one hole but there were wins for Graham Fullagar and Pete Milton (I hole), Geoff Smailes and Laurie Bryant (1 hole) and Jim Lodge and Bill Brown (3 and 2). In the other matches Chris McNulty and Mike Price lost 3 and 2 and Jim Darch and Stuart Weston lost 2 and 1.
