Senior's report

SeniorRoll Up

A totalof 32 Seniors played in the monthly roll-up onThursday 16th September. Graham Kelly posted the bestscore of 76 which also gave him 39 points to win thecompetition. Geoff Smailes came second with 38 pointsand Graham Fullagar was a further point behind inthird place.

TexasScramble

This annual event is beingheld on Dec 4th. The meat prizes for this event areprovided by the Captain and Vice-Captain and the lightmeal afterwards from seniors funds. Please support thedraw by providing prizes and buying tickets asproceeds from this are an important source for theCharity donations from the senior section. Signing upsheet is on the Seniors Board.

Many seniors attended thepresentation night to be presented with their spoilsby Seniors Captain Stuart Weston (He also receivedseveral prizes).

Watch out!

We’vespoken about a few of the proposed rules changes overrecent months, but there are also a whole set ofunwritten rules that golfers should abide by. Thesecome under what we call ‘etiquette’ and below is justone example of how it’s easy to fall foul of them.

Poor etiquette

Canyou work out the reason why the golfer in thenavy is showing poor etiquette? In fact, thereis more than one example we can see...

Usinga putter for balance

Ifyou put your weight on to your putter forbalance, it can dig into the turf and causea dent that can easily deflect a putt offline.

Standingon the line of play

Althoughmany golfers may have trodden on your lineduring the day, an immediate spike mark ismore likely to effect a putt.

Watchingclose to the hole

Footprintsand spike marks around the hole can be veryannoying, so be considerate and avoidstanding close to the hole at all times.
