Juniorstar lights it up

We begin this week with anextraordinary score from junior player Huw Jones inthe Gents Weekend Stableford.

Huw posted a score of 45 Pts(71 gross) off of his 10 handicap! This after a birdieon the 1st hole, a double bogey on the 2nd holefollowed by a run of 16 pars in a row.

Across the 2 days 98 Playerstook part (Saturday CSS 38 Pts Sunday CSS 37 Pts).

Topthree in each divisions were as follows;

ClubMatches - Central Sevens

On Saturday the Blue Teamtravelled to Silverstone coming away with a 4 ½ - 2 ½victory.

Winning players for theBlue’s were Joel Thornett, James Summers, Mark Ellisand Wes Rankin, gaining half a point was Mark DuPlessis.

GirlsSummer Meeting

OnWednesday 15th there was the Summer Girls Meeting atNorth Oxford, well done to our two members with GraceBoag Matthews finishing 2nd and Ellie Mitchell 3rd.

Friendlymatch

Congratulations to theladies who played in a Friendly match at home againstRadley on Thursday 9th August. They won 3 ½  to ½ followed by an enjoyable afternoon tea.

In theLadies Sall Trophy (Flag Competition) SandraChamberlain was the winner going to the 1st extrahole.

SeniorsAugust roll-up

On Thursday 16th August atotal of 17 seniors braved the early morning rain andplayed in the monthly roll-up.

They were rewarded withbetter playing conditions when the rain stopped after3 holes of play. There was only one score of belowhandicap with John McHarg scoring 38 points who led by4 points from 5 players.

Full Results were: -

• 1st Place - John mcHarg - 38 Points.
• 2nd Place - Ian Gordon - 34 Points (cb).
• 3rd Place - Colin Walters - 34 Points (cb).

Nearest the pin - Bernie Blanchardand Tony Whitlock.

Seniors Club Match

In the match against Waterstock theSniors suffered their worst defeat of the seasonwhen they were comprehensively beaten away toWaterstock, 5.5 – 0.5.

Kirtlingtons half point came fromCaptain Stuart Weston and Geoff Smailes.

Senior Competitions

Both knock-out competitions havereached the finals stage. In the singles LarryBlackwell will play Mike Lisseter and in the pairsGerry Shaw/Steve Hayes will play Graham Ford/GrahamFullagar.
