New Golf Season is almost here....

Hi All, 

As February draws to a close there is more andmore happening at the club, the golf season isalmost here and with the recent nice eveningsthis week it is great to see people takingadvantage of this. Daylight is holding out togone 5:30pm now offering a great opportunity tostart getting in that much needed practice forthe new season! Why not come up after work toplay 9 holes on our excellently prepared andchallenging Blenheim Course or get some muchneeded practice on the Driving Range andpractice areas we have. 

Practice they say makes perfect but you alwaysneed a bit of luck! Take a look at these top 10luckiest shots from the European Tour in thisvideo here.

Competition news 

Gent's Midweek Stableford 

On Wednesday, 17 February, 18 playersparticipated in the February Midweek Stableford,which considering the awful weather this wasgreat to see, thanks for all those who supportedthis again. 

The runaway winner by a 4 point margin was DeclanKip with 43 points, in secondand with the lowest gross (75) was NolanAselford with 39 points and inthird place was Marc Jordanwith 38 points. 

Junior Three Club 

On Friday, 19 February the Juniors had 7 playerstaking part in the fun 3Club Challenge, theoverall winner posting an excellent 33 Pointswas Elisha Gujral,followed in Second Place by IsabelEdwards with 29 points. It'stough enough being able to use 14 clubs at themoment so using just 3 clubs these were greatscores! 

Gents Weekend Stableford 

On Saturday, 20 and Sunday, 21 February therewere a total of 71 players taking part!Conditions over the weekend were extremelychallenging as the high winds and rain showerscame in on Saturday afternoon, those playingearly Saturday morning really took advantage ofthe more favourable conditions. 

Overall Winner and with the best gross (71) wasNolan Aselford42 points, followed in second by RichardButler with 39 points and inthird was Ben Crumellwith 38 points. 

Divisional top 3 results were as follows: 

Div 1: 1st Nolan Aselford42 pts, 2nd Reg Mitchell36 pts and 3rd Duncan Cooper35 pts 
Div 2: 1st Richard Butler39 pts, 2nd Ben Crumell38 pts and 3rd Graham Brown38 pts 
Div 3: 1st Adam Smith35 pts, 2nd Dave Basey35 pts and 3rd Trevor Butler35 pts

Senior section 

Seniors February Stableford 

On Thursday, 11 February a total of 50 seniorstook part in the monthly Stableford. KevinCrummell carded a veryrespectable gross score of 76 in winning the 1stDivision. 

Full Results were:

Div. 1 1st Kevin Crummell39pts, 2nd Ian Gordon36pts and 3rd Reg Mitchell35 pts 
Div. 2 1st Mike Boniface38 pts, 2nd Alan Bunning37 pts and 3rd Ken Rapley36 pts 

Feb Roll-up 

A total of 25 seniors played in the Feb Roll-Upwith new member Tom Walshwinning the competition. JohnMcHarg won nearest the pin onthe 16th. 

Annual Dinner

A reminder there is still time to sign up forthe dinner on the 11th March. Notices about theMenu choices and Sign-up sheets are on theSeniors and Ladies Noticeboards, please sign upwith your menu choices. StuartWeston (treasurer of the SeniorSection) will take payment, cash or cheque madepayable to 'Golf Senior Section'.

Rule of the week 

Playinga Provisional

In this week we join Jeremy Ellwood at BurhillGolf Club in Walton-on-Thames in anotherexcellent video looking at playing a provisionalball. 

From a pace of play perspective, if there's anydoubt at all as to whether or not you'll findyour ball, you owe it to yourself and others toplay a provisional.
