Busy week at the club
It's been a busy week both on and offthe course with the Clubhouse hosting theSeniors Annual Dinner last Friday followed by asold out afternoon of bookings for Mothers Day!We have also had some fantastic weather over thelast week encouraging lots of new and returningvisitors to the club.
MarchWinter Open
In our final Winter Open until October we had 48players in total taking part this time welcomingvisitors from Buckingham, Cotswold Hills, EastBerkshire, Glen Gorse, Magnolia, Manchester GC,Nene Park, The Springs, Tidworth Garrison &Wentworth. Competition Standard Scratch showed howtough the course was playing with this finishingon 71 (35pts).
The Member 1st prize receiving a voucher for
£70 was DavidCarter 40 Pts 2nd Ian Gordon 37 Pts 3rd Sam Chick36 Pts. The Top 3 Visitors were: 1st Callum Cooke(The Springs Golf Club) 36 Pts 2nd Mark Tovey(East Berkshire Golf Club) 34 Pts 3rd RobertCrumell (Tidworth Garrison Golf Club) 33 Pts

For next winter we have some exciting plans inplace and are looking to do a 'KGC Winter Series'comprising of Six Opens running from October 2017to March 2018 with there being an order of meritcompetition with the 4 best out of the 6 scoresgoing towards this - watch this space!
Obituary for Doug Robertson
Doug worked with our golf course construction teamfor many years and was responsible for all thevery detailed and wonderful shaping on both ourgolf courses. He was renowned for his talent andskill with diggers shaping the landscape andcontouring many golf courses throughout Britain.
Doug worked on the construction of our 18 holecourse and many of you will also have met him andDan when they were working on the design andconstruction of the Blenheim 9 Hole course in2003. Doug always had time for a chat and answeredso many people's questions on design andconstruction of a golf course.
He will be sadly missed but always remembered, sotake a minute the next time you are out on thegolf course to have a look around and take in someof the beautiful contours that Doug will havecreated. Below is a couple of images of thecontours on the main course.
Updated Sheep Ruling
For the purpose of the sheep ruling, entry willnow be allowed to the sheep pen. There aredesignated crossing points on the electric fenceto enter the enclosure; this will consist of somecasing covering the electric wire.
Oxfordshire Foursomes Scratch League
Making it into the Oxford Mail this week! It wasanother victory for our Scratch Team maintainingtheir top of the table spot with a 2-1 victoryover Chiltern Forest. Click here for the results

Competition round upOn Sunday it was the Professional Club with thetop 16 players progressing to the Knockout stageof the competition. In 1st place on the dayfinishing on 3 up was Lee Parsons followed insecond place by Pat Curley on 2 up.

Ladies MedalsIn the Ladies Medal on Saturday 25th this was wonby Julie Hodges with a Nett 74, runner up was ValEadle Nett 78 (Lowest Gross 90). On Tuesday 28ththere were 15 players participating with Pam Salethe winner with a Nett 69 followed in second placeby Jackie Thompson Nett 71 (Lowest Gross 80).
SeniorClub Matches
The seniors have played two home matches recently,being successful in both.
Playing Silverstone for the first time Kirtlingtonwon by 4 -2. In the Captains match Larry B/Clarriefound themselves 3 holes down after 8 but staged astrong recovery in winning 6 of the next 7 holesto eventually gain a 2 and 1 victory. OtherKirtlington winners were Bill K/Stuart W (3 and2), Ian Gordon/Bill B (4 and 2) and Jim D/ Dave M(4 and 3). We much look forward to playing thereturn match at Silverstone in October.
Against Witney Lakes the overall result was thesame with a 4 - 2 victory to Kirtlington. In theCaptains match Larry/ Stuart W lost a close matchon the 17th. Kirtlington winners wereClarrie/Graham Ford (3 and 2), Jim D/Mike L (5 and4), Peter M/Peter F (3 and 2) and Geoff S/Tony B(4 and 3)
