ThisWeekend Winter Open Series 5

This weekend it is number 5in our Winter Series:

So farwe have had a total of 125 players participate inthese opens. Hereare the current standings for the order of Merit. Thisis best 4 out of 6 scores counting which will makethings more interesting in the race to find the orderof merit winner! Currently leading the way is TomStevens with a score of 142.

Adult& Junior Open

Well done to thosethat took part in our Adult & JuniorOpen last Friday, we were very fortunatewith the weather on a spring like day! Thetop 2 teams had to be decided on Countbackwere: 1st Richard Jenkins & ScarlettJenkins 24 Pts 2nd Mat Beardsley & GraceBeardsley 24 Pts.In what was his firstcompetition Ritchie Dawe got nearest the pinon the 8th hole. For the Adults Nearest thePin it was Richard Jenkins on the 9th hole.

Alsothanks to the ladies Elaine and Sandra forbeing on standby during the day and helpingus with the scoring.

Last weekend saw over 100players take part in the Gents February Stableford –once again fantastic numbers! The lowest scores acrossthe two days both came from Division 2 by Bill Keysand Colin Proffitt on 41 Pts.

On Thursday 15th February atotal of 31 seniors played in the monthly roll-up.Scoring conditions were difficult with only Ian Waltonplaying below his handicap. Full results were: -

Don't overlook its importance

Whenit comes to golf equipment, there are very few thingswe see neglected as much as grips, which is surprisingwhen you consider they are your only point of contactwith the club. If you keep on reading you’ll find outwhy it’s important to keep your grips in goodcondition and when you should look to replace them, aswell as an offer that we're currently runningin-store.

When should you consider a regrip?
Small amounts of wear occur with each use ofyour grips and it’s easy to miss earlywarning signs. As a rule-of-thumb, yourgrips should be replaced every 40 rounds,but this can be sooner if you practiceregularly. For most of you, that would meanreplacing your grips every year.

Why regrip?
Worn grips force you to hold the clubtighter than usual, increasing pressure andtension in your hands, wrists and arms. Thisreduces the head speed you can create andtherefore your distance. However, using atacky grip that matches the size of yourhands – no, it’s not one size fits all –will cater for a lighter pressure and giveyou more confidence on every swing.
