I hope you've all had a great week on and off the golf course and welcome to another edition of the KGC Weekly Newsletter bringing you up to date with all the latest news from the club.

Competition news

The Week that was

After more disruptive weather at the weekend at least we have enjoyed some signs of spring these last few days - fingers crossed we can now look forward to longer days and warmer weather at last!

Due to the weather the March Weekend Stableford became a one day competition on the Saturday. In total 23 players braved the conditions with the CSS at 34pts, the top 3 scores in each division were:

Div 1: 1st John McEachran 36pts 2nd Gary Quainton 34pts 3rd Joel Thornett 33pts (CB)

Div 2: 1st Dave Gallagher 33pts (CB) 2nd Sathya Vadivale 33pts (CB) 3rd Mark Du Plessis 33pts

Div 3: 1st Chris Williams 36pts 2nd Phil Key 31pts 3rd Steve Booker 28pts (CB)

The March Midweek Stableford had a great attendance with 37 players teeing it up. The top 3 scores were: 1st Ian Taylor 38pts (CB) 2nd Gary Quainton 38pts 3rd Michael Phillington 37pts

This Sunday it is Gents the Professional Cup – remember to put your clocks forward!

Masters Qualification

There are still 5 competitions remaining which are qualifiers to go towards the 4 cards required for the Masters these include:

Sunday 25th March - Professional Cup
Saturday 31st March & Sunday 1st April – Weekend Medal
Wednesday 4th April – Midweek Medal
Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th April – Weekend Stableford
Wednesday 18th April – Midweek Stableford

Final Winter Open of the series

This Saturday is our sixth Winter Open and draws to a close our winter series. It is still all to play for in the Order of Merit with Satya Vadivale leading the way from Tom Stevens.

Prizes for the top 5 will be as follows: 1st £100, 2nd £70, 3rd £50, 4th £30, 5th £20

Junior News

On Saturday Izy Edwards beat Markos Carr 5&4 to claim the Junior Winter Knockout title for the third year in a row. Many thanks to Paul Slade for refereeing in a blizzard. Well done Izy!

Ladies news

Golf Girls Rocks

Girls Golf Rocks FREE taster session

SATURDAY 12TH MAY 2018 2PM

This 1 hour session is a perfect introduction to golf for girls aged 5-18. No experience is necessary and all the equipment needed is provided.

Just rock up in a comfortable clothes and a pair of trainers and the girls are good to go!

This initiative is in partnership with www.girlsgolfrocks.org

Proud to be a part of this fantastic scheme!

Ladies competition news

In the ladies Stableford on Tuesday there were 12 players taking part with the CSS at 32 points and this being a reduction only competition.

The top 3 scores were 1st Maggie Day 28pts 2nd Sandra Chamberlain 27pts 3rd Elaine Hunt 26 Pts.

Seniors Report

Seniors Stableford

On Thursday 15th March a total of 60 seniors played in the monthly Stableford which had been postponed from the 1st March. In windy and wet conditions scoring was difficult with the CSS being 35 points and only 4 players played better than their handicap. Ian Gordon won Division 1 decisively whilst Larry Blackwell won on countback in a 3 way tie in Division 2. Results were: -

Div. 1 1st Ian Gordon 37 Pts 2nd Kevin Crumell 34 Pts 3rd Tony Whitlock 33 pts

Div. 2 1st Larry Blackwell 37 Pts (cb) 2nd Roy Smith 37Pts (cb) 3rd Stuart Weston 37 Pts

Senior Team Matches

Senior Team matches begin this week. Over the season we play 24 matches, twelve clubs on a home and away bases. Stuart the captain invites seniors to put their name forward, sign-up sheets are on the Senior Noticeboard. Match Fee is £15 and this includes a two course meal after the match. New players are encouraged to give it a go.
