Seniors Matches

Senior matches come thick and fast in May with two matches in the last week. On Thursday 16th May Kirtlington entertained Radley and won 4 – 2. David Musson and Clarrie Haynes were always in control in the Captains game eventually winning 5 and 3. There were wins also from Gerry Shaw/Bill Brown and Tony Bastable/Steve Dalton (both 4 and 3). The other games were much closer affairs with both Roy Smith/Jim Lodge and Stuart Weston/Larry Blackwell both halving their matches. Ian Taylor/ Alberto Barraclough lost 2 and 1 in a game of changing fortunes losing the last four holes.

On Tuesday 21st May Kirtlington played their first match against Hadden Hill. A number of the games were very tight with David Musson/Gerry Shaw in the Captains match and vice-captain Roy Smith and Clarrie Haynes both winning their matches on the last hole 2 up. Jim Lodge and Ian Walton halved their match whilst there were good wins for Bill Brown/Laurie Bryant 5 and 4 and Tony Bastable/Larry Blackwell 4 and 3. Graham Fullagar/Pete Milton lost their match on the 17th 2 and 1.

On this occasion it was the first time many of the Hadden players had been to Kirtlington, they were full of praise for its layout and condition.
