Merv Hunt Memorial Trophy - Sunday 11th August 2019 Just a quick few words about this competition, Merv was Club Captain in 1999, after being involved in the Club, and the setting up of the competitions that we all enjoy today, since the opening in 1995. Sadly he lost his life to Skin Cancer in December 1999 and this is why we have run this charity competition ever since. Over the years, the Members have raised £13,551.85 for the Skin Cancer Research Fund along with a Breast Cancer Charity. That is an amazing sum and we, the Members, should be very proud of our achievement. However, this year it was decided by my family that the competition should run without the charity element, and be open all day. We are really pleased, that even with the change, there were still 73 entrants. This competition has, for nearly 20 years, been one of the most supported, if not, THE most supported Trophy competition in the Club calendar. Many of you will remember Merv, he was a straight-talking no-nonsense Jack the Lad who didn’t suffer fools gladly, (not to mention drinking Pam out of Light Ale!) and we know he would be really chuffed with the turnout in ‘ his competition’. Well done to this year’s winner Todd Parker-Hunt and thank you all. Best Wishes, Elaine, Jason and Joanna Hunt.
