Seniors Christmas Texas Scramble On Monday, 2 December, members of the Senior Section were seen in various disguises when they played in the annual Texas Scramble for Meat prizes. Graham was a green gnome (or was it an elf), Peter Dunn was a very passable Smurf and there were several Father Christmases.
Due to the very wet course which meant a full trolley ban on the 18-hole course, it was decided that Seniors who needed trolleys played the front nine under restriction and then all played the Blenheim course. A total of fifteen teams of four entered (one team playing with three).
There was an excellent atmosphere during the competition, and afterwards, the teams enjoyed a meal in the clubhouse. The par for the competition was 65 but most teams played under this after the handicap was adjusted for. Full results were:
1st: Chris Myall, Paul Craddock, Philip Wigmore and Paul Rosenthal 51.8. 2nd: Terry Garratt, Stuart Weston, Peter Wood and Jim Lodge (absent) 54.0. 3rd: Peter Marsh, Clarrie Haynes, Roy Smith and Eric Blincoe 54.5.
After the prize-giving, there was a raffle which raised nearly £400.
