Stableford Competition

In the 9 hole individual Stableford competition this was won by Stan Green in the Gents section, Ladies Section Val Eadle and in the Junior Section George Slater.

Great fun was had by all and the best of luck to our new Captains

Jack FM Christmas Texas Scramble

On Monday we had our JACK FM charity golf day raising lots of money for Thomley Hall children’s charity.
The top 3 teams on the day were:

• 1st Isis Rescue – 57.9 (for the second year running!)
• 2nd Clovers – 59.0
• 3rd Airpart Supply – 60.0

Big thank you to all the teams, Jack FM and all the sponsors that took part on the day, all proceeds raised going to Thomley Hall Charity https://thomley.org.uk/

Competition news

Midweek Stableford

In the Midweek Stableford on Wednesday 24 players took part with the CSS 37 points. In first place with an excellent 41 points was John Williams. Second was Bob Lomas 39 points and in third place on countback was Bob Thiele 38 points.

Ladies news

Turkey Trot

In the ladies Turkey Trot on Tuesday a total 23 players took part. In first place was Ruth Marshall 16 points, second Pam Sale 15 points (cb) and in third was Angela Marshall 15 points.

Seniors news

Thursday 5th December: Stableford

Fifty entrants teed off in this month’s Stableford. Twenty playing in division 1 and thirty in division 2.
As a result of lower than usual point-scoring by most of the field, the competition scratch score dropped slightly to 36 points.

The prize winners were:
Division 1: 1st - Peter Marsh (38 pts), 2nd - Geoff Smailes (36 pts), 3rd - John McHarg (34 pts)
Division 2: 1st - David McCullagh (36 pts), 2nd - Paul Rosentall (35 pts), 3rd - Patrick Marcks (34 pts)

Roy Smith returned the only two of the competition, on the 11th hole.

Sometimes, the difference between a scratch golfer and a 9-handicapper can be quite small, such as how far they each hit the ball. However, there is certainly one part of the game that can be hugely different and it’s the area where your score is either made or lost.

Why the gap?

It's brilliant to see more club golfers getting fitted for new clubs now than ever before, and long may that continue!

But why would you not get fitted for your wedges?

With modern lofts on irons being stronger than ever (one of the reasons today's irons go further than a decade ago), golfers are often left with huge gaps between clubs at the bottom of their bag.

With lofts available from 46 (PW) to 64 (LW) degrees, we'd highly recommend getting fitted for Cleveland’s RTX 4 wedges as not only will they provide you with great performance around the green, but the correct set-up will easily fill any gaps you might have.
