I am writing with an update on current activities at Kirtlington Golf Club. We obviously have the situation of Coronavirus looming over our heads but also some exciting developments for the club which I hope will be some brighter news in amongst the current environment. Coronavirus Update As a community business committed to providing a safe & healthy environment, in light of the current public health concern we would like to assure you as our valued guests that we are doing our upmost to minimise the spread of COVID-19. We, as we are sure you all do, continue to follow and monitor official guidance from Public Health England and the UK Government and it is of paramount importance that we are able to assure that all procedures are in place to support the health and wellbeing of our members, the public and of course our extended team. Golf is an outdoor, non-contact sport, so can we play through the pandemic by temporarily altering our behaviour at the golf club? To help combat the spread of COVID-19, we have introduced additional & precautionary safety measures within the business, such as, but not exclusively: Check in at the pro shop We have removed the sign in sheets at the pro shop and with the new system we will for the time being manually check-in each member for their tee time. Please make sure you do report to the pro shop to check in otherwise the system will report you as a no show on your membership record. For all members who are self-isolating for personal reasons and showing no symptoms of the virus, you may call us from the car park when you arrive to play or come to the pro shop window and we will check you in, this means you can enjoy your golf and not have to come into close contact with other people at this time. Members Cards We are trying to minimise the contact and cash handling at the tills, and we would ask all members to top up their members card and use this method as payment for the forthcoming weeks. We will then take the payment manually from your card rather than passing the card back and forth with the staff. Once the online system is up and running for the members you will be able to top up your card from the app or online yourself at any time. Online Booking Again for those concerned about personal contact, you will very soon be able to book online, pick a quiet time on the golf course and go out to enjoy some fresh air, using the check in procedure detailed above to minimise your contact with other people. This will be open to all members also visitors who can book their tee time and pay online at the time. Cleaning We have introduced many extra in-depth daily cleaning procedures at the club for staff and clubhouse. Insisting our team wash their hands every 20 minutes with anti-bacterial soap for at least 20 seconds. Sanitising all high-risk contact points throughout the day in addition to a full & thorough process at the beginning and end of the day. Extensive revisions and additions to our continuous daily cleaning schedules. Continuously educating our team on preventing the spread of COVID-19. We are changing our cleaners at the golf club and with this the clubhouse will be having a deep clean in the evening on Monday 23rd March. This was organised before the Coronavirus outbreak but will be a beneficial operation with the current environment. Customer and Member Obligations We are unable to source hand sanitiser for the club, having had back orders with the suppliers for the last few weeks they have informed us that most of the current supply of hand sanitiser is being directed to hospitals and high risk areas and we are unlikely to receive our order any time soon. We would ask all customers to wash their hands regularly and maintain a high standard of hygiene. Please dispose of all tissues into the bins on the golf course and in the clubhouse. All of the procedures above are standard as of today, obviously the information from the government can change daily and we will keep you informed of any updated changes in the day to day running of the club. There is an interesting article written about coronavirus and golf, it was written for the American market but has some informative points in it.

Other News at the Club Intelligent Golf
Our live date to the members will be Thursday 26th March. This will open the online booking and members area for the system at the club. On this day you will receive an email from the club with clear instructions on how to download the app or access the online area through the website. Pam, Gary, Charlotte, Hilton and Jade are fully trained up and will be available to help you if you require any assistance. Environmental From the start of April we will change to a more environmentally friendly recyclable waste collection system. This will mean that there will be specified bins around the clubhouse and course for recycle materials only and separate bins for general waste only. All we ask of you is to please ensure you put the correct waste in the correct bins. New Bar Menu This week sees the introduction of a new menu in the bar to mark the start of spring and a new season. I would like to extend a thank you to all members who have offered their help to the club if it is required in the coming few weeks, I am very grateful to all our visitors and members and the real community spirit we have at the club. I would also say that if anyone is isolating and requires some help, top up of supplies etc then please do not hesitate to contact the club. At the moment we still have a good stock levels from our suppliers and can find a member of staff or member who could drop goods to you or help out in some way. Your safety, comfort and confidence in us to have your wellbeing when visiting us is our absolute priority and we will always have this at the forefront of any decisions that we make. On a brighter note this sunny day, we hope to see you all out on the golf course soon as Spring and hopefully some drier weather seems to be coming our way.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Kind regards,
Pamela Smith General Manager
