Summer Roses

In the Ladies Summer Roses on Tuesday, eight teams took part, this was a Non-Qualifying Full Handicap Medal Rumble (two of three scores to count).

Top three were:

1st Elaine Hunt (18), Margaret Day (31) and Libby Koivio (31) 139.
2nd Sophie Grimshaw (31), Linda Breaker (21) and Linda Walton (23) 141.
3rd Marilyn Richardson (29), Rita Murray (25) and Tracey Russell (28) 142.

Thursday, 9 July: Token J'Esture Winter Pairs

Congratulations to Mike Price and Laurie Bryant, who defeated Steve Dolton and Paul Wilkinson in the long-delayed final of the Token J'Esture winter pairs competition.

Competition Scorecard Checklist:

- Have you MARKED AND SIGNED YOUR OWN card.

- Agree on the score with your marker and write AGREED in the MARKERS SIGNATURE BOX.

- Enter YOUR OWN score into your app.

- Upload a photo of YOUR OWN SCORECARD into the app.

- Choose your OWN name to ALLOCATE the card to.

- PLACE YOUR SCORECARD INTO THE BOX.

- Any problems see a member of staff BEFORE placing your scorecard into the box.

For Supplementary cards, please also remember to place your scorecard in the box after entering your score into the app.

Current Club Information Update 16/07/2020

Pro Shop

The Pro Shop is open for a maximum of two customers at any one time. Please note that from the 24th July, it will be mandatory to wear a mask if you are entering the pro shop. The outside check-in at the window will continue to operate.

Bar

Fully operational again but on slightly reduced hours.
Opening hours - Sat/Sun 9am until 7pm, Mon/Tue 9am until 5pm and Wed/Thur/Fri 9am until 8pm

Take away drinks are available from the pro shop outside of these hours.

Catering

Bar meals are available with crockery and cutlery on a reduced menu.
Opening Hours – 7 Days - 9am until 5pm.

Seating

We are encouraging the use of the outdoor seating. There are a limited number of indoor tables if required due to inclement weather. A limit on seating time may be enforced during busy periods.

Changing rooms

The changing rooms are still closed for a shower and changing facilities.

Lockers

Lockers are available for members to use again but only one person in a time, please request access at the pro shop.

Toilets

The toilets are now all open one person at a time. Please request access at the pro shop.

Tee booking

The tee booking is back to normal operation, the updates for any tee information is at the top of each tee sheet for the day including any information on a competition running that day. Please keep an eye on this when booking.

Member's news area

Most updates, news and information are posted on the news area, accessed through the member's online area or through the app. Please use this area to keep yourself up to date and to find helpful hints and tips on using the app and online area.

Please follow all signage to ensure your safety and that of the staff. Always maintain the social distancing regulation of 1m plus when visiting the club.

Golf on Tour

A fantastic performance

Certain rounds make us mere mortals say “Wow!”.

Collin Morikawa had one of those rounds on Sunday. Justin Thomas really should have won the tournament - and when you sink a glorious putt from 50-plus feet for birdie in a playoff it’d be understandable to celebrate as you have - but, as I said, Morikawa had a “Wow!” round.

This was Morikawa's second PGA Tour victory. That might not sound too impressive as a standalone statement, but it's one more than the number of cuts he's missed so far in his youthful career. Just let that sink in for a minute.

It goes to show how consistent the top players are. So, rather than trying to hit the ball further, maybe we should all be striving for more consistency in our game? Share your thoughts with us using the button below.

New shoes for less

After something new?

Lots of you are playing more regular golf now than you ever have done before. This is great and we're certainly not complaining!

However, with all that golf comes plenty of miles walking down the fairways (and sometimes rough). So, with £20 OFF selected shoes in the pro shop, now is the perfect time to upgrade your shoes to make sure you have all the comfort and support you need.

Being a single-figure golfer, there's a good chance that at least one club in your bag has been fitted to suit your swing. We're big advocates of custom fitting when it comes to purchasing new clubs and would encourage you to go through the process again if you're considering an upgrade to your set.

Changes over time

Whilst many of you have been custom fitted before, your specs are likely to alter over time as your swing changes.

Testing different clubs

This is the best bit about the fitting experience - trying out the latest products from multiple brand until you find the one you prefer.

You ARE good enough

A recent survey highlighted that nearly a quarter of golfers who haven’t been custom fitted before believe that they are not good enough to go through the fitting process. We're incredibly passionate about finding the best clubs for your game - no matter your golfing ability or experience - and an enjoyable fitting experience is the most effective way to do this and help you improve as a golfer.

Consistency is key

It’s nice to be able to hit the ball further and more accurately, and a custom fitting will help with that, but the main thing is to be more consistent so that your bad shots are few and far between.

Testing different clubs

This is the most enjoyable part for any golfer - trying out the latest equipment from different brands. It's not just about what performs best, but also about what you prefer in both looks and feel.

Once we have a club that you particularly like, we'll look at the finer details with you so it's perfectly set-up for your game. We appreciate it's a big purchase, so we want to ensure you walk away happy.

Making life easier off the tee

The average golfer will use their driver between 10-13 times per round. That means between 50-75% of holes are relying on that one club for a good start. But how do you ensure you get that good start?
