Kirtlington Golf Club

Last Friday, forty-four ladies (twenty-two teams) took part in the Ladies' Pairs Open playing for the Swash Hardie Trophy.

There was some excellent scoring in what proved tricky conditions.

The winning team with a magnificent 40 points and receiving the Swash Hardie Trophy were visitors Gill Hodgson and Kerry Hambleton from Overstone Park Golf Club in Northamptonshire.

The top three were:

1st Gill Hodgson & Kerry Hambleton (Overstone Park Golf Club) 40 points.

2nd Jude Carr and Diane Hobbs (Kirtlington Golf Club) 38 points.

3rd Tracey Russell (Kirtlington Golf Club) and Mel Squires (Knowle Golf Club) 37 points.

In the first ladies Blenheim Trophy competition, this was between three of our clubhouse staff - Charlotte, Jade and Kayleigh!

Junior news

On Tuesday, we held the Oxfordshire Junior League Autumn Trophy in what was terrible weather conditions, all competitors did incredibly well to complete their rounds.

This year’s winner was Molly-May Baker from Northamptonshire County Golf Club with an incredible 42 points! In second place was Stanley Kay from Chipping Norton Golf Club with an excellent 35 points and in third place was Ambrose Eaves from Broadway Golf Club with 34 points.

In our Blenheim Academy Competition, it was a top-three of Kirtlington Blenheim Members. In first place was Billy Groves ahead of Tom Blake in second and Charlie Hodgson in third.

In the Junior Shield on Saturday, eight juniors took part. Well done to Sam Kimber who like his dad Mark was also victorious on Saturday!

Sam managed to score 36 points. In second place was Beau Spencer with 34 points.

Winter Open Series

The Winter Series got back underway with a combined total of 121 players taking part of which twenty of these were visitors. For this series, we have introduced two divisions with Pro Shop Voucher prizes being issued to the top three each day.

Winter Series One - Saturday, 24 October saw fifty-five players take part (thirteen visitors). CSS 37 points (69)

Division one (Scratch to 12 handicap)

In the Scratch final between Sandy Bolton and Nolan Aselford, this was won by Sandy Bolton.

Gent's Midweek Stableford

In the re-arranged Midweek Stableford, forty players took part in what proved challenging conditions with the CSS rising to 71.

It was a fantastic 39 points by Sandy Bolton (Gross 68) in first place ahead on Roger Tyler on countback. In third place was Bob Lomas on 38 points (CB).
