We’ve got some exciting things planned for the year ahead, among them having Cleveland’s fantastic new driver ready for purchase in our shop! We’d love to walk you through all the tech in person, so why not book a custom fitting with us?

Cleveland’s most recent driver launch was the XL range, and it’s time to say hello to the XL2! There’s a lot to unpack with this fantastic golf driver, but today we’re going to give you three solid reasons why this club is one to get really excited about.

1. XL2 Shape and Looks

Cleveland Launcher XL2 Driver

There’s no denying the silky and intriguing shape of the Cleveland XL2 driver.

Once you’ve pulled off the headcover and examine the sole, you’ll notice some subtle aesthetic differences that sets the XL2 apart from the XL drivers. While the latter was predominantly black with blue sections at the toe and heel, these areas on the new club are a brilliant silver.

But it's the size of this driver that won't go unnoticed. With an improved XL head design, Cleveland has not only filled the golfer with confidence at address (honestly, it looks like you can't miss the centre!) but has packed in even more forgiveness than previous generations!

Turning the club over and lining it up with a ball, the XL2 looks truly fierce. You’ll find the Cleveland logo alignment aid in the middle of the club by the face. On both sides of the crown are aerodynamic lines that give the impression of looking like the grill on the front of a car. The message is clear, this thing is designed to swing fast.

2. Launcher XL2 Feel

It looks good, but does it feel good? Well the answer is yes, yes it does. This golf driver has a Lamkin Crossline 360 golf grip that will give you a superb hold over your club.

We immediately noticed how lightweight the XL2 golf driver felt to swing. This has been achieived by tucking an 8-gram weight into the end of the shaft that counterbalances the head weight to make it feel very wieldy in your hands, whilst remaining stable through impact.

Cleveland pays a lot of attention to sound and feel when designing these clubs, the better the noise when you flush a driver strike, the better it feels. Thanks to the face tech, you’ll be hitting a sweet spot regardless of where on the face you make contact with the ball.

3. Launcher XL2 Tech

It should go without saying that a golf driver is only as good as the tech it’s made of, and Cleveland has made the XL2 with the latest cutting-edge advancements.

This model is built for sending bombs down the middle.

Cleveland Golf

The head on this driver feels large, reassuring you that you have a large target area to strike the ball with. Cleveland has given the XL2 a deep and low weighting profile to give players a high-launching ball flight.

There’s a lot of tech packed into the MainFrame XL face. Each part of this face is a different thickness that helps to maximise flex at impact to boost your distance - so if you do miss the centre - which let's face it, we all do! - you'll benefit from the added ball speed.

The Rebound Zone boasts two flex zones that alternate in-sync, helping to give a more fluid transfer of energy from the club to the ball for more speed and distance. Again!

We can’t get over how fun this driver is to swing, and it’s a joy to go over how each section has been specifically designed to contribute to your performance.

XL2: A family of two golf drivers

Every golfer has a unique ability, and every golfer has a unique swing. With this in mind, Cleveland has made the XL2 to sit nicely alongside the family of XL drivers.

As we’ve mentioned, the XL2 will give you plenty of launch and distance on your drives. It’s very resistant to twisting too so you’ll be hitting it far with plenty of accuracy.

Another model is the Launcher XL2 Draw golf driver, which has a built in draw-bias to help keep your shots central and on the fairway if you struggle with a pesky slice.

If you’re thinking of kickstarting your 2024 with a new golf driver, why not pop by the pro shop? When you come for a custom fitting, we’ll be able to take a look at your ability and how you approach the ball. We’ll then get you kitted up with appropriate gear so you can take your game to the next level.
